Program areas at Radiant Health Natural Medical Center
PATIENT CARE: The patient base at Radiant Health continues to evolve, requiring the clinic to constantly adapt to treat patients in a post-pandemic environment. Our patients have been carrying a much higher stress load in recent years, resulting in various health challenges. Radiant Health has worked diligently to provide an environment that equips our patients to better care for themselves and help lower their overall stress load. During the fiscal year 22/23, the clinic had more than 3,100 patient appointments and procedures. Although a slight decrease from the previous year, we were operating with only one physician (instead of two) for the first several months and then brought on a Resident Physician in early 2023. Considering the staffing changes experienced during this fiscal year, the overall activity was quite high. A core focus of ours is to empower and equip the next generation of naturopathic physicians. Therefore, we were pleased to have the opportunity to assist a recent grad and help her become an established naturopathic physician. The clinic continued to offer diagnostic and therapeutic modalities such as clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing, nutritional medicine, botanical medicine, naturopathic physical medicine, public health measures, hygiene, counseling, homeopathy, acupuncture, prescription medication, and other procedures. This fiscal year we were fortunate to also welcome 214 new patients into our practice. The clinic also focused on expanding the impact of our Charity Care program. During the 22/23 fiscal year, the clinic had 63 Charity Care appointments, a 215% increase from the previous fiscal year. Our patients are facing many hardships ? several are struggling with an illness, some are experiencing relationship strife, and others are enduring a traumatic experience. Oftentimes, those struggles are accompanied by financial stress and the result is that their health deteriorates. We are intently focused on growing our Charity Care program so that we can help patients who need financial assistance be able to access our services.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH: An essential part of Radiant Health?s focus continues to be community outreach. Our efforts this fiscal year included serving as a collection site for two important community partners. We collected wheelchairs for Hope Haven and food and supplies for City Hope. Another area of focus was inclusion. Our primary physician served as a swim and soccer coach for the Special Olympics and provided respite care for a family experiencing aggressive behavior episodes. Radiant Health also provided work experience for a 21-year-old with Down Syndrome. He was provided a volunteer job coach on Tuesdays and Thursdays who helped teach him how to organize, clean, and escort patients to their rooms. He also was a source of inspiration through the sharing of Bible verses and quotes.
MEMBERSHIP: Radiant Health?s goals far exceed simply providing quality healthcare to its patients. During the 2022/23 fiscal year, we continued to develop and mature a community of people who are interested and active in their own health journey. To achieve our long-term objectives, we worked to expand, educate, envision, and empower our members. As of June 30, 2023, RHNMC had 168 active members, a 51% increase over the prior year. One of the highlights of the year was hosting the first annual Radiant Health Tea Party. As our first large fundraising event, we definitely learned our fair share of important lessons. For the event, we had 55 people in attendance, secured 11 partners who donated money or products and raised $2800. Ultimately, due to circumstances beyond our control, we had to reschedule our first date on short notice. This increased our expenses significantly, which impacted our bottom line. However, we still consider it a success and look forward to our 2nd Annual Tea Party in early 2024. RHNMC also saw a large increase in the number of volunteers supporting the clinic. Volunteers played a critical role in helping with our operations, specifically, they assisted with bookkeeping, custodial and facilities help, and oversight on our board of directors. The Radiant Health volunteers provided over 1500 hours of service for an average of more than 30 hours per week.
