Program areas at Radiating Hope

Our mission is to provide and update radiation equipment to developing countries. Radiating Hope is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization founded by radiation oncologists and mountain climbers wanting to help cancer patients around the world, our goal is to raise money to provide and update radiation equipment in countries where radiation therapy and cancer care is hard to find, and optimal treatments are sparse. We will create sustainable change as we educate communities, preserve cultural values, and build community relationships. We accomplish our mission in four ways: " one way is through our mountain climbing guide services. Climbers raise tax deductible pledges to purchase a climb package. The money raised is used to purchase and update radiation equipment for developing countries. Anyone who is interested, no matter their skill level, can raise money to climb with us. " We also raise money through selling tibetan prayer flags, which have long represented health, strength and Hope. Cancer patients and their families can purchase a prayer flag in the patient's honor. Their initials are written on the flags, they receive a certificate, and can receive a framed prayer flag. A designated climbing team carries the flags on their expeditions, flying the flags at the peak. The flags' journey can be seen on our blog. " We seek partnerships with physicians, clinics, and radiation equipment manufacturers that have the resources to donate radiation equipment. " We partner with other non-profit organizations, including the international atomic energy agency (iaea) and asociacion latino americano de terapia radiante oncologia (alatro) in order to locate needs and fill the void. These agencies assist in overseeing that all donations are implemented, managed, money capitalized, and most importantly help maintain the radiation facilities for years to come.
