Ukraine refugee program: mana deschisa is a christian residential center for homeless people or for those who are in the immediate danger of becoming homeless due To poverty, abuse, domestic violence, emotional problems, or substance use.since the beginning of the war in ukraine, mana deschisa has been assisting ukrainian refugees in several ways. Transportation To and from ukraine, housing, medical and social services To the refugees are provided by the asociatia mana deschisa in campine, romania.the primary focus in 2022 was hosting and coordinating refugees leaving ukraine. At times there were fifty refugees living on the mana deschisa campus and other refugees were housed in a small apartment complex as well as in some homes in the community we send supplies back To those still living in war zones as we are able. Conditions and experiences have been challenging for most of the refugees.a nine-passenger minibus was purchased To transport ukrainian refugees between facilities and To various appointments. Some of the women have found jobs now in town cooking, cleaning, and working in infirmaries. Other women work in the gardening at the md campus greenhouse. At mana deschisa, we honored our brave and loving ukrainian refugee mothers. On mother's day we had a barbecue and presented all the mothers and girls with a lovely rosethe children attended the new school on campus of mana deschisa in the ukrainian language. Volunteers brought teddy bears and gifts for the refugee children that mana deschisa hosted. A few refugees have returned To ukraine, but more from eastern ukraine are seeking housing in Romania. Mana deschisa accommodates as many refugees as possible.on the first transport donations of potatoes and other food items, as well as necessities, were loaded onto the md big red truck then the truck traveled north across the ukrainian border at siret into ukraine. These supplies were transferred To ukrainian trucks or vans and were taken To the villages of the refugees.regular trips taken To ukraine, with a variety of supplies and medicines, help support the husbands, doctor and others who are defending their homeland in ukraine. Refugees were able To send needed supplies To loved ones back home. Lists were made for basic needs and medicine that were sent with personal letters from the families.the bombing of hospitals caused a scarcity of many medicines, and thus adversely affected many families. Md transported cancer medication and insulin into zhytomyr as well as food, clothes and other urgently needed supplies.md continually received request for food, medicines, and other urgent supplies for civilians and internally displaced refugees in ukraine, but also in moldova during 2022.
Mana deschisa building program: the concrete pads were poured by volunteers for seven single homes and one double home.the homes were purchased and installed. The homes include a washer in the bathroom with a shower. The gravel driveway was finished with a more practical concrete driveway and play area.the building that now houses the ukrainian school and the large summer kitchen is complete. A new roof and handicapped entrance were added To the original building. The renovation included new walls, tile floors and new bathrooms. The playground is equipped with a new trampoline, scooters, and bicycles.
Foster home program: we are committed To helping the children living in casa philadelphia grow into strong, compassionate christians. The staff cares for the children, and we provide food, water, shelter, education, and love through jesus christ. Five children live in the house, and we have fostered as many as eight at a time.the first children To move into casa philadelphia were in 2014. The oldest is presently in seminary in bucharest Romania and is doing very well. He faced some family troubles a few years ago, which set him back in school, and he didn't think he would ever be able To catch up. However, through Reach To Romania and daniel's strong work ethic, he graduated from hateg national college (a form of high school). He serves as a role model To the younger children now.justin is daniel's younger brother. Justin is thriving and speaks english very well. Both justin and daniel came To the house in 2016 with many life struggles; however, they have both improved significantly and are bright young boys.claudiu is the newest addition To the family. He is a very responsible young man and is doing very well in school. He is very active and gets along with the other kids as if he has known them forever. Claudiu, justin, and gabriel call themselves the three musketeers.every child is very loving, smart, and striving To succeed. Each child works hard in school and in their christian faith. They enjoy going To church, and sometimes they even argue over who gets To pray for everyone each night. Sergiu and monica dobre are the group home "parents". They believe that it is a true blessing To be able To parent these children.reach To Romania sends monthly wires To keep the home running. We pay for utilities, some groceries, fuel for transportation and childcare.
