Program areas at Read Better Better
Read Better Be Better (rbbb) was founded in 2014 as a response to Arizona's literacy crisis. Though the organization began as a third-grade literacy intervention, Read Better Be Better has evolved to serve the needs of every grade level. The preventative k-1 program ensures that a child does not fall behind in reading. The third-grade program provides supplementary literacy instruction to students who cannot Read at grade level. The pathways to education and pathways to civic leadership programs, tailored towards high schoolers, equip future educators and civic leaders with the tools necessary to help solve Arizona's literacy crisis. (continued on schedule o)in 2022-23 we served 3,104 students in 66 schools and 11 community-based organizations. We are proud to report significant improvements in our participants' reading abilities, as evidenced by the dibels daze scores from fall to spring of 2022-2023. This is one of the standardized tests used to measure reading comprehension. On average, our readers demonstrate a remarkable 67.2% improvement, surpassing the average 3rd grader's improvement rate of 47.1%. Furthermore, teachers report a tangible enhancement in students' leadership skills. Their surveys reveal that 74.8% of teachers observe increased displays of leadership in the classroom among students who participated in our program."
