Program areas at Read for Literacy
Adult Literacy program: adult basic education and english language learners engages students in learning activities that increase reading, writing and communication skills. Tutors work with our students one-to-one or in small groups setting goals to achieve success in the classroom, at work and in life.
Claire's day: this line of service is dedicated to inspiring children and families to be lifelong readers. We do this to honor claire lynsey rubini, who passed away from a heart condition in 2000 when she was just ten years old. Celebrating life, authors, illustrators and reading excellence, claire's day annually serves more than 20,000 children and their families.
Creating young readers program: this line of service affords volunteers the opportunity to work with children ages 3-8 (preschool through 2nd grade) who are at risk of falling behind in emergent Literacy skills. Reader friends meet one-to-one with a child on reading, alphabet recognition and other skills all while sharing their love of reading.
