Program areas at Redeemer Classical School
Redeemer Classical School is an independent christian School without ties to any church or denomination. The School's statement of faith is focused on the truths that have bound orthodox christians together through the ages, across the boundaries of time, place, race, denomination and tradition. In 2022-2023, the School's enrollment increased to a record 222 students, 22% of whom received financial assistance. In the 2020-21 School year, Redeemer Classical School launched a rhetoric School (high School), starting with 9th grade. The School added 11th grade for the 2022-23 School year.
Redeemer is a member of vaca (Virginia association of christian athletics) and competes in interscholastic athletic competition in the following sports: volleyball (girls and boys), cross country, basketball, golf, and track. Redeemer also has club level sports offering for students in 3-5th grade in the following sports: basketball and soccer. Students in the rhetoric School complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service each year. Redeemer has a unique form of student government with prefects who are appointed to one or two years terms and are responsible for planningand executing both grade level and school-wide social events. In 2022-23 Redeemer announced the start of a house system, which will go into effect in the 2023-24 School year.
Redeemer students received numerous awards and recognition throughout the School year. This year students competed in the national spelling bee and the regional science fair. Students also competed in the national latin exam and national mythology exam. Additionally Redeemer has a robust memorization program that has students commit over 600 bible verses, poems, songs, and literary passages to memory from pk-11th grade.
