Program areas at Redwood Empire Mountain Bike Alliance

Remba's three signature achievements related to its program and mission were: 1) worked with a local high school Mountain Bike team, the napa valley composite, to resolve parking issues in the moore creek parking lot. Due to the increase in trail activity parking became an issue with no delineated spaces. Using recycled fire hose (used to fight local fires) remba guided the youth team to cut and install fire hose delineated parking spaces to accommodate 44 vehicles. Part of our mission is to give back to the trails we use, included impacted parking lots/trailheads. 2) worked with a local high school Mountain Bike team, the saint helena thunderbirds, and a team from pacific union college forester to clean up post wildfire mitigation work, rebuilt section of trail that needed to be rebuilt, and added a feature to a new trail under construction. Our pro team ran the volunteer day with 45 people. The students learned about wildfire mitigation practices necessary in our area, why the forest needed the work, and why the community help was beneficial. 3) worked with local high school Mountain Bike team the napa valley composite to repair eroded trails used for their practices. Students learned what tools are needed for these repairs, why the erosion occurred, durable repair techniques, how we impact trails through use, and techniques for re-naturalizing areas of trail no longer sustainable for use.
