Rec's food justice programs (fj) empower community members to access healthy, affordable, culturally appropriate, local food in low-income and food-insecure worcester neighborhoods via: ugrow, an urban garden program involving 500 gardeners and farmers and 2,000 worcester public school students at 60+ community & school gardens and urban farms; youthgrow, a year-round youth employment and leadership program for underserved low-income teenagers on 2 urban farms; rec community farmers markets, bringing affordable, healthy,culturally appropriate, local food to 15 locations 6 days each week june through october and 5 locations 3 days each week november to may.
