Program areas at Rehope / Restoration House of Greater Kansas City
There are more than 40 million persons enslaved in human trafficking around the globe. Human trafficking in all its forms is an enormously complex issue. Its eradication requires a multi-faceted strategy that incorporates many organizations in areas such as prevention, awareness and restoration. The KC Metro area continues to grow as a hub for human trafficking for a variety of reasons. Restoration House (R|H or RH) began its mission in 2013 as a response to the increasing epidemic of human sex trafficking in the U.S. R|H has earned a national reputation, being afforded a national voice toward the healing and restoration of female survivors. R|H is recognized as a leading organization in offering long-term residential housing and the most comprehensive suite of programs and services. R|H believes the healing and restoration process is a long-term endeavor and necessitates a steady and patient process grounded in mental, emotional, psychological and physical de-programming and re-programming. R|H's mission entails physically separate safe house facilities with trauma-informed staffs, Restoration House Farms, established 2015, near Harrisonville, Missouri for adult women and in partnership with the Missouri Baptist Children Home (MBCH). The staff provide residents and non-residents with trauma-informed, client-centered services based on best practices and multiple theoretical frameworks) including cognitive behavior therapy and trauma-based relational intervention) for long-term aftercare and reintegration of trafficking and CSE victims/survivors. Over the last two years RH tripled our housing capacity for adult survivors from six to thirty-five beds. In 2022 We provide long-term housing, therapeutic small animal programs, gardening, Christ-centered spiritual development, holistic wellness programs, healing arts, job training and placement, education, trauma-informed counseling and life coaching. R|H also partners for medical and psychological needs. Most victims served by R|H are domestic, however in recent years, some victims were trafficked across borders. In 2022, RH had 411 total service request, 278 screenings and 86 intake interview and we provided 240 referrals. RH had 37 adult participants and 442 medical, counseling and legal appointments. In 2022 there were 8,784 meals served.
In November 2019, R|H, in partnership with Missouri Baptist Children's Home, opened the Mabee House near Peculiar, Missouri, serving minor survivors of human sex trafficking. The Mabee House is the only program in the KC area that provides long-term residential services to minor survivors of human trafficking. The Mabee House provides housing, food, healthcare, therapy, education, emotional and spiritual counseling, and job skill training without charge, without discrimination, to minor girl survivors of human trafficking. RH provides victim services for seven girls (ages 6-17), as well as a small emergency capacity (two beds) for boys (ages 2-17) at the Mabee House by 2023. At the Mabee House, in 2022, RH doubled the number of beds for children adding residential capacity for up to 7 boys to existing 7 bed capacity for girls in a separate home. IRH had 10 minor/juvenile participants and served 1,800 meals.
