Reinvent Albany promotes open, accountable New York state government. We seek a state government that is clear and honest about its goals and activities, keeps its promises and benefits from the collective genius and participation of the public it is intended to serve. Our interest in government transparency and public participation are both practical and idealistic. Around the world, the governments that are the most effective and the least corrupt are also the most transparent and accountable.

The work of Reinvent Albany is focused on winning a) a state government whichactively uses advances in information technology to become more responsive, open, effectiveand innovative, b) an open New York which puts the states vast wealth of state digitalinformation online in a usable format and creates new opportunities for public participation,c) agency and authority accountability, including clear public goals, priorities andperformance measures for state agencies and authorities displayed in the internet,d) fiscal honesty and transparency, starting with an end to the diversion of dedicatedtaxes and fees, where we seek a full and cleaer accounting of all forms of state spending,subsidies and borrowing, which is organized coherently and displayed onlineand e) better basic democracy and clean government including ethics reform,reduced barriers to voting and fair election districts.
