Program areas at Rensselaer Plateau Alliance

RPA acquired 3 new properties totaling 516-acres in 2022. These properties constitute three new community forests that will be open to the public for recreation in three different towns in the region.
RPA and Rensselaer Land Trust, a nonprofit organization that preserves and protects land and water in Rensselaer County, New York, announced the early phases of a merger. By bringing both organizations together, a vision of clean air and water, scenic beauty, and people connected to nature across suburban, urban, and rural communities is ensured.
RPA entered the second year of its first major capital campaign, the Forests Forever Campaign, with a goal of raising $2 million for land conservation and long-term stewardship. By October 2022, the campaign goal had been exceeded, and it was completed a year ahead of schedule.
Other program services include education and outreach, trail vision, conservation plan, and land stewardship.
