Program areas at Repair the World
Mobilize (communities):repair builds thriving jewish communities across the country through jewish service and learning that meets pressing local needs, connects young adults to jewish life, and builds bridges across lines of difference. Last year, Repair mobilized 73,034 participants (46% increase over the prior year) in 100,162 acts of service and learning, contributing 165,053 hours of service to nonprofits. This includes direct programming (full-time fellowship, part-time service corps, episodic service) in 12 communities. Because of Repair, 98% of jewish alumni reported feeling proud about being jewish when they engage in service, and 69% of service partners reported engaging more young adult volunteers.
Inspire (campaigns):through national service campaigns, Repair engages thousands of jews and their neighbors in service and learning that ties jewish tradition and teachings to holidays and current events (last year, back to school backpack campaign, Repair the vote, mlk day, and earth day - Repair the earth). 126 alumni ambassadors also served as leaders of jewish service learning programs for their peers. Repair has also deepened its commitment to transforming this service into a meaningful jewish practice by rolling out a new jewish educational strategy and training staff and members of the jsa to ensure there is enriching jewish service learning at each Repair program.
Catalyze (national partnerships/field activation): Repair powers the jewish service alliance (jsa), a coalition of 40+ jewish organizations that enhance and expand service opportunities for the broader jewish community through customized partnerships, training and education, microgrants, and convenings to grow the jewish service movement. Last year, Repair supported 855 trainings and programs with organizations such as jcc association, jdc entwine, jfna, and moishe house. For example, 196 hillel service engagement interns were trained to lead their peers in 16,862 acts of service and learning. Jsa partners reported increased participant engagement and attention to service at the organizational level, indicating a cultural shift within the organizations.
Olam fiscally sponsored:repair has a fiscal sponsorship agreement with olam beyahad (r.a) ("olam"), an israeli nonprofit in good standing with the israeli registrar of amutot. Olam is a network of jewish and israeli organizations working in the fields of global service, international development and humanitarian aid. Inspired by jewish values and committed to high ethical standards, olam convenes and mobilizes leaders and organizations to take meaningful action in support of the World's most vulnerable people.
