Program areas at RISE
In 2023, RISE's program was the Grief Support Group for mothers of children who lost a father to gun violence. The biggest achievements were the Father's Day Event, Summer Support Group Cohort & Caregiver Conference, and the Holiday Hope Drive & Event. In total, 242 individuals were served during the year, providing solace, community, and assistance in their healing journeys. 1. Grand Opening for new space with multiple offices and open spaces for our operations, caregivers, and children. 2. Successfully held + completed 4 Grief Support Circles (Fall, Winter, Spring + Summer) for caretakers and children who lost a parent to gun violence. 3. Partnered with Grandmothers Against Gun Violence to create + provide grief baskets for families impacted by gun violence. 4. Held the 3rd Annual Celebrate Dad's Life event to honor the lives and legacies of fathers lost to gun violence. 5. Launched the Source Survivor Podcast to elevate survivors' voices and resources 6. Held the Annual Holiday Hope for families impacted by gun violence 7. Completed the 1st book project for children who lost a parent to gun violence; the children worked with writers and illustrators to write a book about their fathers. Nine books were authored and published. 8. Held a Back to School Drive for kids of fallen gun violence victims.
