Program areas at Restorative Justice Partners
SCHOOLS: 100%(85/85) of program participants rated the RJ Schools workshop/training as useful to better understand the use of restorative justice practices to support school climate and culture transformation. Workshop training provided to 102 adults, the team supported additional on-site support services for 30 adults with restorative practices, trained 100 Peer Mediators, and 422 students were supported through on-site services & peer mediation training by RJP, Inc. throughout Monterey County. Participants added: "Restorative Justice is good at providing tools that promote a positive school culture all year long. The Respect agreements are a great way to begin the school year with a common understanding. The Circles help us process certain situations or scenarios, build community, conversate and help get to know each other."- Elementary School Principal Additionally, Restorative Justice Partners, Inc. enjoyed partnering with the following collaboratives this year: Monterey County Office of Education, School Climate Leadership Team David and Lucile Packard Foundation Salinas Youth Initiative, Community Restorative Justice Commission, Monterey County Blue Ribbon Task Force City of Seaside
VORP: 143 youthful individuals were referred for Victim Offender Reconciliation Services. Additionally, 27 adult community members were trained to become VORP mediators Participants added: "It was avery nice and easy process. I had a very good conversation and realized there was more affected than I had thought." "I have learned that I am not the only one hurt by my actions." "Iwanted to say sorry for fighting you. I know it was not a good thing to do. I hope we can be friends one day and thanks for the second chance you and your mom gave me."
VIP: Programming is expanding across the county, now serving three residential facilities and serving eight volunteer speakers. Participants added: "Thank you for your time. I have a better understanding about life and how to handle certain situations". "This class was a real eye opener and has definitely changed my perspective. Keep up the good work and thank you for this information."
