Program areas at Restore 180

For the year ended December 31, 2023 the organization operated the following programs:Program #1 - Standing in SolidarityStanding in Solidarity provides a lifeline for systems-impacted young people 12-24, disrupting the school-to-prison pipeline through mentorship, education, and advocacy. It is a comprehensive youth development program offered in schools, juvenile halls, and other settings. Young people build healthy relationships with peers and positive adult mentors, explore social and restorative justice, and gain a sense of agency and possibility that sets them up for lifelong success. In 2023, Restore 180 provided mentorship, advocacy, and education to 18 young adults to build supportive relationships, advocate for their needs, and help them navigate challenges. As a result of participating in the program, these young adults increased their confidence, became effective advocates for themselves, and developed a commitment to learning, social competencies, and positive values. Program #2 - Liberation RentryLiberation Reentry is a comprehensive relationship-based mentorship and case management program designed to pair participants with credible mentors to support youths leaving detention, provide resources to navigate reentry, and successfully avoid re-incarceration. Mentors meet with participants at least once weekly to define and work on individual goals, help young people connect to education and job opportunities, and navigate their probation or court requirements. Walking alongside a young person as they navigate reentry has been proven to improve life outcomes and reduce recidivism.Reintegrating back into the community after being involved with the juvenile justice system can be an immense challenge for youth. Reentry services are crucial to facilitate a successful transition and reduce the likelihood of recidivism. In 2023, Restore 180 aided eight youths from the Division of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) facilities with employment, housing, mental health support, and substance abuse treatment resources. With individualized case plans and advocates in their corner through mentors and coaches, these youths continue to overcome barriers, build resilience, and return to becoming productive. We are committed to supporting youth inside and outside of juvenile facilities.Program #3 - Restoration & Resiliency FundThe Restoration & Resiliency Fund catalyzes change for justice-impacted youth and families by providing financial aid. This direct support dismantles barriers to opportunities and resources as participants navigate the legal system. The Restoration and Resiliency Fund acknowledges that economic hardship, involvement with the justice system, and systemic barriers often overlap, creating compounded obstacles that can be challenging to overcome. In 2023, Restore 180 supported over 20 families by providing financial assistance, legal aid, counseling, groceries, and advocacy with funding from major donors like the East Bay Community Foundation and The California Endowment.
