The organization was established for the following purposes, goals, and objectives: to promote unity, friendship and good will between the active Police officer and Retired Police officers for their mutual benefit; to promote fellowship, good will and cooperation between the members for their mutual benefit; to promote fellowship, good will and cooperation between the members of this Association and the public at large; to preserve and protect the New York State and New York city retirement systems for Retired Police officers and their beneficiaries; to monitor and report to the membership regarding any activities of any organization, municipality or State which may affect the Retired Police officers or their retirement system; to serve as an advisor Association when requested to do so by any existing Police officer or Retired Police officer associated within the State of New York, upon application and approval of the executive board of officers; to insure the equitable and responsive disbursements of monies of the New York State retirement system to its members and their beneficiaries; to establish representation with collective bargaining units of the active Police organizationsw to obtain benefits from contract negotiations as may be provided by law, for retiring Police officers, Retired Police officers and members of the Association and their beneficiaries as required; to provide a means of communications and education as well as action between the members of the the Association and others.
