Program areas at Rezq Dogs
RezQ Dogs provides general care and housing for dogs and cats that are abandoned or relinquished. All dogs receive an exam from a veterinarian are vaccinated and quarantined to ensure they remain healthy. Dogs stay at RezQ Dogs until they are adopted or transferred to other shelters. RezQ Dogs does not place a time limit on the dogs' stay and does not euthanize to make room for more dogs. RezQ Dogs goes to great lengths to ensure successful outcomes for dogs in its care. Dogs with injuries or sick are treated in various veterinary clinics across the state of Montana. In 2021 RezQDogs cared for 226 dogs and 22 cats.
Due to RezQ Dogs' remote location resulting in low adoption rates and high numbers of incoming dogs RezQ Dogs relies on its transfer program to transfer dogs to more populated areas in order to make room for new incoming dogs. Once dogs are healthy complete their quarantine period and are vaccinated they are transferred to other shelters in Montana. In 2021 RezQ Dogs transferred out 111 dogs and 16 cats.
July 2021 RezQ Dogs collaborated with the US Army Reserve veterinary unit and local veterinarians to offer a 7 day spay neuter clinic on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation. During that time 113 spay neuter surgeries were performed and 479 animals were vaccinated.
