Program areas at Rhode Island Optometric Association

Conventions and seminars were developed to provide continuing education to all members. Continuing education is necessary to fulfill the state's licensure requirements and to maintain professional competancy in the profession of optometry. The rioa also provides information and guidance to its members regarding laws, rules and regulations that may affect its members and consults with its members when input is needed to form positions and policy. As with any healthcare field, state and federal issues can impact its members and its members need to be kept abreast of such things. The rioa is also affiliated with its national organizaiton, the aoa, which provides national level information, group benefits, and regional education seminars. Finally the rioa provides information to its members regarding insurance carrier and billing issues as they frequently change.
