Real estate projects: as a community Land trust, Richmond Land's goal is to create permanently affordable housing. We built relationships and a pipeline for acquisition of property to stabilize homes for families in Richmond and create permanently affordable units through our long-term ground lease. We performed pre-acquisition due diligence on properties we look toward acquiring in future years. We will build off of lessons learned to create resident-controlled, community-owned housing with permanent affordability in Richmond.
Advocacy: Richmond Land works in coalition with other community groups to build resident power, activate residents in participatory action and direct action, and to engage community officials and policymakers. We continued our public lands in community hands campaign and continued partnering with the housing authority around the process of sharing surplus Land act parcels for nonprofit organizations to create community benefit projects. We create community-driven planning opportunities in the city of Richmond and unincorporated parts of west contra costa county, working toward system change for greater community power and resident mobilization to engage directly in the planning process.
