Using Creative Curriculum to ensure supportive development w/ developmentally appropriate practice and Teaching Strategies GOLD for assessment. Our staff is continuously trained in these programs along w/ NAEYC standards, Colorado Shines, and in-house training. Many families choose River Mist due to the outdoor education and lovely environment.
River Mist River Mist Inc is unique among preschools, we integrate a traditional preschool program with outdoor education. During the pandemic River Mist was able to invest in tents, outdoor furniture and toys in order to spend the majority of the time outside during the warmer months. This practice was so successful, we will continue it after the pandemic ends. Our children thrive in development and learning due to the hands on playful activities connected to the natural world. River Mist grows a large garden every year and teaches the children how to plant and grow food. We harvest the garden, the orchard and use the food for snacks. Bringing a natural process of seed to table food education to the children. We are proud of our workand even more proud of how our work enables our children to thrive and have joy about learning.
River Mist operates a preshcool program providing high quality care and education for children ages 3-5 years old in a rural environment w/ a focus on whole child development. our 3-5 year program ultimately prepares children to be successful in kindergarten and beyond. We utilize our various outdoor environments to enhance themed units in Creative Curriculum(trees, Gardening,Insects, Etc.) It creates exciting hands-on opportunities for children that excites them about learning and develops a love for going to school. River Mist uses Teaching Strageties GOLD for assessment and we are in constant contact with parents regarding their child's progress. Staff in this program receive training in NAEYC standards and Colorado Shines as well to ensure we are meeting Colorado's preschool standards in a meaningful and developmentally appropriate way
