Program areas at NCPC
North Carolina Pre-Kindergarten (NC Pre-K) program is designed to provide high-quality educational experiences to enhance school readiness for eligible four-year-old children. Served 623 children at 33 sites and provided 2 trainings to NC Pre-K instructional staff.
Environment Quality Star Tracks (EQST) is a program to make childcare facilities aware of the components of quality care to enhance their facility using the Environment Rating Scales. Assessments of licensed facilities allow for quality enhancement materials. Technical assistance and maintenance is also provided. This activity provides an on-site resource center to all childcare providers and caretakers of children ages birth through five years old. 71 providers served; 21 centers served; 5 fun shops conducted; 13 trainings held
Professional Development provides technical assistance services for licensed child care facilities in the form of intensive one-on-one coaching provided to selected early childhood educators working in infant, toddler and pre-k classrooms. The activity is implemented using My Teaching Partner Coaching (MTP) and focuses on improving teacher-child interactions as measured by the CLASS tool. Academic advising is offered to students enrolled in Early Childhood courses as requested. 17 providers served; 9 centers served; 5 trainings held
