Program areas at Rock and Wrap It Up
Rwu school program rwu is in over 200 schools recovering food that is prepared but not served. Students also participate in the snack Wrap. Program which encourages younger students to donate their unopened snacks to children in latchkey programs and in shelters. College Wrap promotes greening activities by recovering assets from graduating students which would have gone to landfills.
Sports programs: seventy four sport franchises in the nfl, nba, mlb, nhl and msl have partnered with rwu to participate in sports Wrap. Food that is prepared but not sold from home game concessions, luxury boxes and clubhouses is recovered to feed the indigent. The teams also work with rwu by sending players to poverty fighting agencies at holiday time. Rwu has teamed Up with mlb to help recover food from all start games. Sports teams are also producing psa's for rwu's school programs.
Music and entertainment programs rwu has partnered with over 160 bands that tour and include a stipulation in their contract that food that is prepared but not served not go into a landfill but must feed the hungry. Bands are also recovering hotel assets - ex. Shampoo, conditioner for the poor. The It's a Wrap program recovers prepared but not served food in the film and tv production sets. Rwu is currently recovering food from 56 different productions.
Hotels: rwu is currently working with over twenty hotels piloting the recovery of food and room assets. These assets include, half toilet paper rolls, half empty tissue boxes, shampoos and conditioners from room vanities. Hospitals: rwu arranges the recovery of food from five hospitals that was prepared but has not been served as well as non-perishable foods for anti-poverty agencies. Veterans: rwu has developed the feed the veterans program where veterans, their caregivers and national agencies can access their national food pantry/soup kitchen database, hungerpedia. Women and at-risk teens: rwu has launched hannah's project which is program to help women maintain their dignity by providing feminine hygiene products to shelters, soup kitchens and pantries. Rock and Wrap It Up - advocacy: rwu wrote and helped pass the federal food donation act 2008. This act encourages federal buildings to donate food from the buildings to poverty fighting agencies instead of allowing It to be thrown out. Rwu is working with feeding america, a food bank advocacy organization, and the general services administration to roll out this act. Rock and Wrap It Up Rock and Wrap It Up - is an anit-poveryy think tank that recovers food and other assets, which are given to agencies fighting hunger and poverty, increasing their operating budgets. This allows the agencies to invest more resources in services such as tutors, social workers, job placement counselors and mental health counselors to attack the root causes of poverty. We have helped feed over seventy million who hunger in the united states of america.
