Program areas at Rock the Cause
Rock the Cause Records had two charitable music releases in late 2015. The releases helped to raise awareness and support for Huntington's Hope and and ending domestic violence causes. One of the releases was a music compilation paying tribute 60's icon Donovan entitled Gazing With Tranquility A Tribute to the Music of Donovan. The record featured some of today's top indie acts like Flaming Lips, Sharon Van Etten and Lissie who donated their music to the compilation. The Donovan compilation received national attention from NPR, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork etc. The nonprofits we work with have told us that they also get direct donations because a consumer learned about their cause through a Rock the Cause music release first. This has been a very successful program over the past 5 years reaching millions of people around the world through on demand streams. 2015 was a building year for us. Additional grants to charities will be awarded in 2016 and beyond as we collect and determine the net revenue for each new music release. In 2015 we also began curating and developing future releases that will impact charitable causes around the world, while also creating program revenue for Rock the Cause.
Rock the Cause during the 2015 year conducted classroom workshops at High School for Recording arts teaching students about career options in the arts, entertainment, and nonprofit industries. We also traveled to colleges and high schools across the region by invitation to conduct seminars on nonprofit careers, and careers in social enterprises.
Rock the Cause participated in and organized multiple concert events/volunteer drives during 2015. We partnered with venues and touring artists to have a presence at concert events that helped to raise awareness and new support for charitable causes. The concerts helped to engage thousands of people with awareness of various charitable cause. Many became new volunteers and donors for organizations like Women's Advocates, Ronald McDonald House, People Serving People, High School for Recording Arts, Rock the Cause, Habitat for Humanity, Minnesota Music Coalition and more. Volunteers for these organizations were registered onsite at each event. At one concert we collected over 100 professional garments for Women's Advocates.
Through out the year Rock the Cause helps to promote other nonprofit causes via social media and publicity platforms. During the course of 2015 we helped increase the social media viral impressions, and engagements in the hundreds of thousands of organizations like Huntingtons Hope, Womens Advocates, Ronald McDonald House, Childrens Cancer Research Fund and more. This was done by developing, posting, and sharing content that included member drives, fundraising drives, and the promotion of music releases and online digital content.
