Program areas at Rockford Rescue Mission
Food service - a hot, nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered free of charge every day for any hungry man, woman or child in the community. Our food service program provided 153,295 meals in fiscal year 2023.
Crisis - the men's and women's crisis centers provide safe shelter, food and clothing, as well as guest advocacy, community resources and medical services. Our homeless services provided shelter for 551 men and 576 women and children. Case management was provided for nearly everyone in our homeless services.
Recovery - the life recovery program is a residential program offering comprehensive help and hope for men, women and children in desperate circumstances, such as chemical dependency, domestic violence, or destructive relationships. Our life recovery programs enrolled 47 men and 23 women, some women with their children.
Other - education is provided as a part of these programs, including vocational training, basic life skills, ged preparation, college enrollment, and adult literacy. Vocational training is provided at our thrift store and various departments at the Mission. We also have a medical, dental, and chiropractic clinic onsite. We provided 8,157 appointments and partnered with a number of local professional providers. Through services provided in our works' center, 161 guests and life recovery residents attained employment.
Thrift store - thrift store offers gently used items including clothing, household goods, furniture, and accessories, which both meet the needs of the guests as well as provide a low-cost shopping option for the community.
