Program areas at Rockwood Leadership Institute

Partner ProgramsRockwood convenes leaders within a given issue area or geographic region in order to catalyze more powerful and engaged learning communities and partnerships. Each program identifies 12-24 influential leaders to engage in intensive training and receive tools in transformational leadership. Rockwood's Partner Programs that were delivered in whole or in part in 2023 served a total of 431 leaders in 22 3-5 day sessions. Multi-session Fellowships included: Building Power for Healthy Communities; Early Care, Learning and Health Leaders; Documentary Leaders; Equity in Philanthropy; Leaders in Early Childhood (Pre-natal to 3) Education; Leaders in Reproductive Health, Rights and Justice. There were also numerous one-session customized trainings with various funders and partners.
Public ProgramsRockwood leads multi-day leadership development retreats for social change leaders from the nonprofit, philanthropic, labor and socially responsible business sectors. This work includes our flagship Art of Leadership training as well as the newer Art of Navigating Change, Growing White Leaders for Racial Equity, and HeArt of Black Leadership. In 2023, Rockwood offered a total of seventeen public trainings, in which 407 individuals participated.
Fiscal SponsorshipsRockwood served as the fiscal sponsor for three independent projects in 2023, including: Coaching for Healing, Justice and Liberation (a professional coaching training program that focuses on building the capacity of BIPOC social justice movement leaders), the BUILD Leadership Transition (leadership transition programming for US-based Ford BUILD grantees); and Desire Mapping Project (workshops for the BLM and Transformative Justice Movements).
