GENERAL PROGRAM: AS AN EDUCATION-BASED ORGANIZATION, WE PRIORITIZE SHARING KNOWLEDGE TO INCREASE WELL-BEING FOR INDIVIDUALS IN COMMUNITY TO ENSURE HEALTHY FOOD ACCESS. WE DO THROUGH OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMS, FREELY SHARING OUR EDUCATION MATERIALS AND RESOURCES, OUR MONTHLY ONLINE COMMUNITY SEED STORY EVENTS, MICROGRANT OPPORTUNITIES, COMMUNITY LISTENING SESSIONS, ADVISORY COUNCILS, AND LEVERAGING OUR 501c3 STATUS TO COLLABORATE WITH GRASSROOTS PARTNERS IN GRANT REQUESTS.
Network: our network program focuses on the general operation of the organization, including: staff salaries, contractor payments, board of director stipends, administration, operating costs, fundraising, grant research and applications, and year end of appeals. We also maintain connection with our network and expand our reach to Seed savers by offering free seed-saving and grain-growing resources, tools, and education. Our heritage grain manual is available at no cost to anyone interested in the research collected on the most successful grains studied in the heritage grain trials program. We also offer all of our educational materials to the public for anyone to learn and facilitate more interest in individual Seed saving efforts.
Seed school/grain school - education: rmsa specializes in seed-saving education, which we offer through on-location courses, and starting in 2020, we began live classes virtually. in 2021, we held a mix of online and in person education including 2 multi-day online courses, one online workshop, 3 in person grain growing workshops with partners, 1 Seed school in a day and 1 grain school in a day. in 2023, we offered three online courses. : Seed school 101, grain school 101, and a milling and baking workshop.
