Program areas at Rogue Siskiyou Regional Training Facility
Initital design and engineeering completed for construction of a training facility on lands donated for this purpose. Preliminary designs were completed by the end of 2023. A land survey and soil testing for engineering purposes were completed by the end of 2023. Design and engineering costs were paid out of grant funding from the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office $197,202 spent for this accomplishment out of $500,000 granted.
RSR board of directors and volunteers with guidance from organizational development consultant initiated a strategy to raise site development funds as well as secure community support and participation in the training center project, which resulted in a general support grant award; and submission of additional applications with local and regional Oregon foundations pending (not awarded in 2023) for support of FY2024 activities. A $60,000 grant was received from Wild Rivers Coast Alliance for general operating expenses in 2023-2024 of which $36,031 was spent for fundraising and outreach activities in 2023 and the remaining $23,969, was carried over into the FY 2024 operating budget.
The perimeter of the 31.5 acre property for construction of the training center was completely fenced for safety and secure access. Hesco barriers were plaed on-site to provide sound barrier for planned outdoor shooting range activities (to be built in the future (2026) for law enforcement training and for public instruction). All general site development labor was donated by board of directors and local community members. All expenses for equipment, supplies and materials were paid out of grant funding from the Oregon State Fire Marshal's Office $112,058 grant funds spent from $500,000 grant award.
