Program areas at RWA
Conference (in-person and virtual): The conference aims to educate, inform, and disseminate information to career-focused romance writers. It provides a vehicle for members and nonmembers to network with each other and a forum for members to interact with editors, agents, publishers, booksellers, and other romance publishing industry professionals.
Pen to Paper: RWA's intensive, seven-month program to take unpublished authors from first idea to first draft.
RWR: The Romance Writers Report advances the professional interests of career-focused romance writers through a digital magazine that educates and informs the members of Romance Writers of America. Information in the RWR includes but is not limited to editorials, features about writing, in-depth coverage of industry news, survey results, policy articles, regular columns, and advertising.
Industry Promotion / Membership Support Services: RWA's 2,000 members help promote a positive and professional image of romance writers and their works and romance fiction. Members can access up-to-date industry news about agents, publishers, and popular fiction trends. Members suffering financial difficulties can apply to the Perseverance Fund for a free year of dues or one of the various conference scholarships offered. Romance Authors Mentorship Program (RAMP): This program connects experienced indie and traditionally published RWA members with unpublished mentees for a 16-week period. During this time, they work closely together to revise a full manuscript and write a query letter, 50-word pitch, or back cover blurb. The program culminates in two events: a RAMP Pitch Showcase and an Indie Author Weekend, and mentees are encouraged to participate in both.
