Program areas at Root Social Justice Center

Youth 4 Change Youth 4 Change is a youth-led program based in anti racist principles working to dismantle white supremacy and other harmful structures and systems. Youth leaders of Y4C provide peer support to shift power, build leadership and develop voice throughout Youth communities most impacted by injustices we face today.
BIPOC Caucus The Black, Indigenous, and People of Color Caucus BIPOCC is a network of self-identified People of Color coming together to sustain our communities, heal from racial trauma and organize collectively to build relationships, power, and systemic change for the lives of people of color. The Mutual Aid Supportive Network MASN supports this program by connecting allies both inside and outside of the BIPOC community.
I Am Vermont Too The I Am Vermont Too photo-story project is a medium for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color to tell our own stories and convey that racial microaggressions have a significant impact in our lives. The photos represent self-identified individuals of color living, going to school or working, in Vermont and look to highlight the intersectionality of our communities of color and their many stories. The quotes in the pictures are either terms that have been conveyed to us since living in Vermont or are responses to terms, questions or statements made towards us that undermine us as a people and perpetuate racist stereotypes. This is the first known statewide, multi-generation project done only by BIPOC living in the state.
