Program areas at Rotary International - 5520 District
Comprised of new mexico and part of Texas, District 5520 is part of the larger world of Rotary, a global network of 1.4 million people around the world. Rotary members work together to promote peace, fight disease, provide clean water, sanitation, and hygiene, save mothers and children, support education, grow local economies, and protect the environment.to that end, Rotary International provided funds totaling $81,155 to be used by clubs in District 5520 for community and International projects in one of the above focus areas.
Other District expenses include various trainings president and support for the District governor as he travels around the District meeting with the local Rotary clubs and their members. Rotary members pay dues to help defray the District's expenses.
District conference is the annual meeting where members of all of the Rotary clubs in the District meet for a weekend of learning about Rotary projects, meeting other rotarians, and welcoming and honoring the International participants in Rotary youth exchange.bi-district is a meeting where members of all the Rotary clubs in two different districts meet for a weekend of learning about Rotary projects and meeting other rotarians.
The Rotary youth exchange program allows International high school students an opportunity to spend a year in the united states, attending school, learning about their "adopted" family and state, and learning about Rotary. Students are sponsored by local Rotary clubs.
