Ruby’s Place is a non-profit agency in Hayward, California that has provided shelter and supportive services since 1972 for families and individuals who experience domestic violence, and more recently human trafficking. Ruby’s Place was one of the first shelters for families and individuals in the Bay Area established by community volunteers. The Mission of Ruby’s Place is to provide prevention and supportive services to the community and people impacted by domestic violence or human trafficking.

Program areas at Ruby's Place

Our flagship emergency shelter provides 42 beds to single women and parents with children who are survivors of domestic violence, human trafficking, or homelessness. The multi-disciplinary/cultural shelter staff provides culturally competent, trauma sensitive services 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. We have installed individual units for our clients' safety and security. Ruby's Place also has a second emergency shelter which is a 6 bed facility for male victims of labor trafficking. Our third facility houses 8 transgender women who are survivors of human trafficking. We also provide them shelter and supportive services. We also have a 24-hour crisis line, offer case management, therapy, children's program and a housing first rental subsidy program and supportive transitional housing program. We offer case management services, presentation and trainings to the community via remote access. In 2022 we opened our first youth shelter for minors who are victims of sex trafficking. We are also one of the trauma recovery centers in the southern part of alameda county for victims of trauma. We served 185 clients and 140 children for a total of 325 individuals. Rp opened its first pet patio to accommodate client's pets.
