Program areas at Rural Investment to Protect our Environment
General programs - general programs support general operations and standing programs that include education, outreach, research, and communications. Primary education and outreach efforts include maintenance and growth of a farmer and rancher coalition that includes a 10 member steering committee, farmer advisory network, and inclusion, diversity, equity and access (idea) committee. Research is focused on critical issues identified by the farmer and rancher coalition and is used To support additional education and outreach activities. Communications include website management, newsletters, blogs, social media, and storytelling.
Other programs - federal climate policy, pilot partnership match and annual meeting.
Pilot partnership - the pilot partnership successfully secured an $80m usda grant being administered by Virginia tech. The partnership will deliver over $54m To farmers implementing climate smart conservation practices in Arkansas, north dakota, Minnesota, and Virginia over the next 2 years.
