Program areas at Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County
Crisis intervention services: we saw significant changes in 2023 primarily due to the ongoing lack of affordable housing options in Sheboygan and the surrounding areas. As a result, while our shelter population decreased by 30 individuals, we observed a noteworthy increase in the length of stay for individuals seeking refuge. This year, we provided shelter for a total of 4,247 nights, with our average length of stay rising from 36 nights in 2022 to 75 nights in 2023.we responded to 13,963 hotline calls and 343 victim accompaniments.
Non-resident services: we supported 922 individuals with more than 20,320 services. These services are focused on therapy and client advocacy including, but not limited to safety planning, case management, legal advocacy, court support, life skills, housing support, language services, and financial support. In 2023, we served 294 youth, for 1,294 services. Provided 1,506 therapy sessions to 145 individuals. And supported 157 individuals through our southeast asian program, assisted 170 individuals with disabilities through the legal and criminal justice process.
Prevention education services: these services provide community members with information and education to foster values, skills and behaviors focusing on respect, equality and consent that will assist helping individuals understand the dynamics of power and control, healthy relationships and healthy sexuality. In 2023, we provided 400 presentations to 11,783 individuals.
