Program areas at SAFEchild
The Safechild advocacy center is a child and family friendly facility that offers integrated services for child victims of sexual and physical abuse. The center provides medical treatment and healing for children and their families and gives collaborating partners, such as law enforcement, child protection workers, prosecutors, and the mental health and medical communities opportunities to partner to protect the child from further victimization.
Community outreach and education - staff and volunteers present information about Safechild and the issue of child abuse and neglect to various community groups.
Group based programs Safechild implements four family-centered, parent education programs designed to prevent abuse and neglect and to build strong families. Parents receive information during the 10 to 13 week evidenced based programs that empower them to make informed decisions regarding parenting practices that promote the emotional and physical well-being of their children. Program staff collaborate with the wake couny distrct court, wake county human services, local domestic violence and substance abuse agencies and the wake county public school system.
Other programs including - moms supporting moms and funny tummy feelings.
