The principal objective of the Organization is to provide education on conflict resolution to community leaders around the world. Saferworld USA, Inc. provides context-specific recommendations for U.S. security and foreign policy engagement, strengthening the role and effectiveness of preventive peacebuilding mechanisms within U.S. foreign policy. The Organization advocates for U.S. policy and practice that supports the provision of responsive, effective, and accountable security and justice services that meet the needs of communities. This includes aid provision and transitional security in conflict-affected areas, and stresses the role of good governance as a foundation of peace and security. Saferworld supported dialogue amongst civil society actors in Sudan to advance solutions to peace and conflict there;Saferworld organized trips by civil society in Sudan and Yemen to the United States to educate U.S. decisionmakers;Saferworld organized roundtables for communities in South Sudan to discuss contentious issues of cattle rustling, revenge killing, girl elopement and abductions, land disputes, arms in the hands of civilians, misinformation, and hate speech.We promote an approach to counterterrorism that prioritizes long-term peace, rights, and development addressing the underlying drivers of conflict while taking proportionate and appropriate steps to keep people safe from violence.
