Earthquake disaster relief -on april 27, 2015, an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the richter scale devastated nepal, killing over 8,000 people and rendering homeless over 1 million. This was the largest earthquake ever recorded in nepal. To expedite relief efforts reaching the populace, the government of nepal has waived the regulation, which stipulates that ingos must fulfill aid programs through grants to ngos. This has allowed sahayeta.orSahayetaorgrg to immediately react to the tragedy. In the months following the earthquake, sahayeta.orSahayetaorgrg raised $243,370 from over 500 donors, most of whom were first time donors. We are very grateful to all who donated, and all who continue to donate for the relief of the nepali people. In may 2015, the board of directors approved the earthquake disaster relief program. The program expenditures will only be from funds raised specifically for the earthquake disaster relief. No funds from the general program funding will be utilized for the earthquake relief program. During the immediate following months, sahayeta.orSahayetaorgrg focused on immediate relief efforts in the following areas:- relief support and materials & supplies distribution- recovery shelters, family shelters, and mobile shelters- health and nutrition- school rebuildingtotal expenditures during 2016 were $46,970.
