Program areas at Saint Francis Childrens Center

Our community-based early intervention/birth to three program, provided on behalf of milwaukee county, served 295 children with developmental delays in 2022. Due to the continuing pandemic, some contact with families and provision of services was conducted virtually. In those cases close partnerships were maintained with families in order to determine the developmental goals for children and the most appropriate services to reach those goals. Based on the number of families on title 19, approximately 70% of the children served in the program were living in homes at or below the poverty level.
Our early childhood education program served 72 children with and without special needs, and we work with children from six weeks through kindergarten. Our classrooms are fully inclusive, allowing children with and without special needs the opportunity to grow, learn and play together. Our high-quality, innovative Center is nationally accredited and state licensed.
Our children'Childrens's long term support (clts) program, also provided on behalf of milwaukee county, served 633 children, through transition to adult services, with autism or other severe long-term physical or developmental impairments. Throughout the continuing pandemic, our staff supported families both in person and virtually to help empower them to meet the special needs of their children to ensure they remained successfully in their homes.
Our family activity Center (fac) provided free programming for 123 families, including 213 children via mostly in-person offerings including yoga and mindfulness classes, sibshops (support group for siblings of kids with special needs), mom's nights, discussions on topics such as adult compassion and self-care, fridays in the park events, a trick or treat event and a family pottery painting event. The family activity Center is designed to help families reduce isolation and is free and open to the public. Families do not need to be enrolled in or have a connection to st. Francis children'Childrens's Center in order to participate. Other therapy services.
