Program areas at San Diego Children's Choir
In FY 22-23 San Diego Childrens Choir SDCC provided high quality music education to 1,900 children ages 1 - 18. They represent diverse socioeconomic communities in 65 countywide zip codes. In SDCCs ensemble program, students age 6-18 received sequential choral training formative performance experiences. They developed as musicians through age/skill-based voice training, music literacy, learning classic traditional music performance. Through introductory school outreach programs, children ages 1-10 had their first experiences in music, including a research project on music education impact. Programming was accessible at 13 countywide sites through needs-based ensemble scholarships free music classes at Title 1 schools. Last season 81 of participants received donor/grant-funded free music education. SDCC is a vital part of the performing arts community, participating in 25 collaborative concerts events. Since 1993. SDCC has toured regionally abroad, including 2023s Vienna Tour with 35 advances ensemble choristers.
