The San Diego Seniors Community Foundation (sdscf) is committed to enhancing the lives of older adults. This year, we expanded our impactful initiatives and forged new partnerships to ensure that every senior in San Diego feels supported, valued, and connected.empowering senior centers:our cornerstone initiative, the empower San Diego senior center campaign, continues to be a primary focus. In 2024, we supported even more underfunded, understaffed, and under-resourced senior centers. By providing essential grants, we help these centers expand their program offerings, fostering sustainability and building capacity. Our goal is to create vibrant hubs of activity and support where Seniors can thrive. This year, we will intensify our efforts to integrate the senior center master plan within San Diego county's strategic initiatives. Our vision is for every senior center in San Diego to be a model of excellence, providing comprehensive services that meet the diverse needs of our older adults.no senior alone campaign:our no senior alone campaign has been a heartwarming success. This year, we sent close to 1,000 Seniors to the San Diego safari park for the first time. This initiative provided a memorable experience for many older adults, combating isolation and bringing joy to their lives. We are committed to continuing such efforts, ensuring that every senior has opportunities to connect and engage with the Community. Looking forward, our no senior alone for the holidays campaign will ensure that over 8,000 Seniors at 28 different senior centers across San Diego will not be alone during the holiday season.national recognition and collaboration:our innovative approach to senior care is being recognized on a national scale. With the generous support from wells fargo, we have partnered with the fbi to hold elder fraud prevention seminars taught by real fbi agents. This partnership has been instrumental in educating over 1,000 Seniors about the dangers of fraud. Our partner agency, fbisdcaa, received an award for our collaborative work, highlighting the positive impact we've made in protecting and empowering seniors.intergenerational grantmaking and programs:in 2024, intergenerational grantmaking funded the first grandparents raising grandkids retreat in collaboration with say San Diego, providing much-needed support and resources to these families. Additionally, we are working closely with the itzkowich fundacion to bring more intergenerational programming to San Diego. These initiatives are designed to strengthen bonds across generations and enrich the lives of both young and old.sdscf is the only Community Foundation in the country focused solely on Seniors. With less than 2% of charitable dollars directed towards Seniors, we are dedicated to building the infrastructure needed to support this growing demographic. Our work is not only about providing immediate aid but also about creating a lasting legacy of care and support for future generations. At sdscf, we believe that every senior deserves a life filled with dignity, purpose, and joy. As we move forward in 2024, we are inspired by the resilience and spirit of the older adults we serve. Together, we can build a brighter future for Seniors in San Diego, one where they are truly empowered and connected.
