San Francisco Bicycle Coalition Education Fund

The SF Bicycle Coalition Education Fund conducts bicycle safety education and training for adults and youth. The Safe Routes to School program offers education and encouragement for safe and sustainable transportation (biking, rolling, walking, transit, carpooling) throughout the SFUSD school system. The organization's Bike It Forward program helps low-income communities access bicycling by distributing refurbished bikes at no cost and offering education and events to encourage biking as healthy activity and transportation. Citywide efforts to encourage people to ride bicycles include the annual Bike to Work Day, in which thousands across the city participate. The organization also conducts community organizing to educate the public about how transportation policy decisions are made and to connect with neighbors who share their interest in safe bicycling for transportation.
