Program areas at San Francisco Camerawork
Exhibitions, Public Programs, and Critique Sessions Over the course of 2022-23, San Francisco Camerawork hosted mission-aligned, public education programs, including artist talks and conversation, panels, and studio and exhibition tours. In September 2022, we opened a gallery in the historic Fort Mason in San Francisco where 4 exhibitions were presented. Each exhibition was shown up to 12 weeks and was free and open to the public 5 days each of those weeks enabling over 3,000 visitors to engage with our staff, artists and experience new ideas in photography. We also hosted on-line and in-person monthly critique sessions during which leading photographers reviewed the work of our members. FORECAST, our annual emerging artist show, was juried by local artists and leaders who selected 6 finalists including a $1,500 prize recipient as the Juror's Choice. All other finalists received a $500 prize.
Workshops and Classes San Francisco Camerawork hosted an advanced critique workshop series. The advanced critique workshops are designed to allow practicing photographers to develop and strengthen their photographic work, both concept and technique, under the instructions of leading photographers. The sessions provide the opportunity to explore contemporary art issues and practices as well as to receive directed feedback through discussion.
