San Francisco Marin Medical Society (SFMS)

As the collective voice for San Francisco and Marin county physicians, sfmms strives to enhance the professional development and quality of life for its members.sfmms provides educational programming to membership on practice management and timely issues affecting the health and well-being of San Francisco and Marin physicians and their patients. San Francisco Marin medicine, the journal of the sfmms, is published four times a year and distributed to over 3,000 physicians and allied health care professionals. Recent issues have focused on issues related to the covid-19 pandemic, Medical ethics, addiction and advocacy.

Sfmms assesses and takes positions on policy, regulation, and proposed legislation in line with the professional values, beliefs, and priorities of its physician membership. Sfmms is a strong advocate on public health/public policy in San Francisco and Marin counties, and has concentrated on ensuring that the challenges and needs of physician practices are incorporated into the state and county response to the covid-19 pandemic, including the development of public health guidelines on covid-19 vaccine distribution and administration.

Sfmms aids its members with practice promotion and career development through frequent community events and physician wellness activities. An online physician finder is available free-of charge to the general public.
