San Francisco Wireless Emergency Mesh (SFWEM) is a volunteer-led project with a mission to provide disaster preparedness and relief services in San Francisco and the greater Bay Area. The project was awarded an ARDC Grant to install a resilient high speed wireless network for use during emergencies and large community events. Additionally, SFWEM is part of the Sierra-Lassen-Plumas Interoperability Network (SLPnet), which aims to build a wireless common backbone for multiple emergency services, public life safety, public education, and amateur radio users.
