The community transit services are possible by Section 5311 operating assistance funds. SVTS is applying for FY 2012 Section 5311 operating funds for the continuation of the existing community transit services and for the expansion of transit services into other areas of the five – (5) county region.

Sandy Valley Transportation Services, Inc. provided over 4,200,000 client miles for non-emergency medical rides for Big Sandy Region Medicaid recipients and public transportation for Senior Citizen Centers, Adult Day Care Centers, Housing Authorities, Kentucky Department of Corrections and other entities and individuals. It also served as a broker provider of those services for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet-Multimodal Division.
