Description
Sarah Bellums Bakery and Workshop provides job training for adults with brain injury. Its mission is to offer return-to-work opportunities, practical experience, and job training for those with acquired brain injuries. The program consists of a support crew of volunteers, paid positions, and students from local universities who work alongside the bakers. SBBW had 35 adult participants in 2022, with 15 volunteers supporting the team and 20 students learning alongside them. The program logged 5,610 volunteer hours and helped three adults with brain injuries find employment.

Program areas at Sarah Bellums Bakery and Workshop

The bakery is currently the only program at SBBW. During 2023, we had 29 adult participants with acquired brain injury. 40 volunteers supported the team, and 14 students learned alongside the bakers. We logged 5,647 volunteer hours. 8 adults with brain injury graduated from the program and either moved to permanent employment or returned to school.
