Program areas at ScholarCHIPS

Scholarchips awardees receive college funding (I.E. Renewable Scholarships and Book Awards), and all of the scholars have the opportunity to benefit from our additional programs, including mentoring, cultural enrichment, college life skills workshops and a peer support network. Since the programs inception in 2012, the organization has supported seventy-seven scholars, and thirty-two scholars have graduated from their respective undergraduate studies programs.Scholarchips also maintained its in-house one-on-one mentorship program, where scholars are matched with vetted volunteer mentors from within the community. Scholars and mentors have reported that they are enjoying their relationship and that it is mutually beneficial. ScholarCHIPS does have a new Mental Health and Wellness Program. ScholarCHIPS Mental Health and Wellness Program is designed to provide educational and mental/emotional programming and supports for scholars to aid in healthy development and to ensure that they can complete their college education. Programming includes mental health and wellness workshops and webinars on sub-topics such as building positive self-esteem and body image, dealing with depression and anxiety, etc. Through this program, ScholarCHIPS offers referral lists for therapy services upon scholars requests and offers financial assistance to scholars who are seeking therapy from a licensed therapist, who have financial need.
