Scholars at Risk is an international network of institutions and individuals dedicated to protecting scholars, promoting academic freedom, and defending everyone's freedom to think, question and share ideas. Its protection team arranges temporary academic positions at member universities and colleges to provide safety for scholars facing grave threats, so that their ideas are not lost. These scholars can continue their work until conditions improve, and they are able to return home.

Program areas at Scholars at Risk

By arranging temporary academic positions at member universities and colleges, Scholars at Risk's protection team offers safety to Scholars facing grave threats, so Scholars' ideas are not lost and they can keep working until conditions improve and they are able to return to their home countries. Sar also offers advisory services for Scholars and host institutions. Scholars at Risk's advocacy team campaigns for Scholars who are imprisoned or silenced in their home countries, and monitors and reports on attacks on higher education communities worldwide. Scholars at Risk's research and learning team deploys new tools and strategies for promoting academic freedom and improving respect for university values everywhere, including online courses, in-person workshops, webinars and related materials.
