Program areas at School
Our highest expense was compensating our teachers who train and teach the students and also partner with the students co-teachers in the home classroom. This expense compensates our administrators who carry out the mission of Oakwell Academy through a variety of tasks and responsibilities. Each teacher is required to create lesson plans to be used in the central classroom and to be continued in the home classroom. The lesson plans are then reviewed and approved by our curriculum administrator. This expense also covers the cost of the taxes we incur in order to pay our employees.
Our next highest expense was for our schools curriculum and classroom expenses. Our school purchases various curriculum and materials for all of our grades, PreK-10th grade. Each grade needs various items for each subject being taught. The varying curriculum needed expands and increases with each growing year. This expense also covers all of our elective and physical education classes.
Our next highest expense is providing a facility that is used as our central classroom where students attend anywhere from 2-5 days per week depending on the child's grade level. We are currently renting a facility and this amount covers our cost for renting and using the facility throughout the school year and the summer season.
The remaining program expense of $25,988.00 is comprised of membership dues and fees, background checks, contract labor compensation, extracurricular events, sales expense, small gifts for teachers, etc. All of these program expenses and accomplishments are broken up into much smaller categories and minor expenses throughout the year that totaled the below amount.
