Program areas at Schools for Salone
Construction & maintenance: one new vocational school for girls built and opened, 16 classrooms and one library refurbished. Two primary Schools were under construction.
Girls program (promoting education equity): partnered with uman tok and programme for children to provide sexual reproductive health education to 4,748 children. We provided 1,464 menstruation kits to female students and 1,956 dignity health kits distributed to adolescent boys. 74% of sponsorships are given to girls in our Schools.
Teacher support (advancing education quality): partnered with the learning foundation to conduct literacy training workshops for 135 teachers and lead remedial reading clubs for 429 students with 19 teachers. Two digital reading clubs started as a pilot project. Partnered with the sierra leone book trust to offer the inspiring readers program to 620 children in three Schools. Sponsored 89 teachers for distance learning to earn their teaching certificates. Partnered with programme for children for teacher support and training.
Student support (fostering education access): 60 bikes purchased for laoma and kambawama secondary Schools. 106 students sponsored including 13 college students. Books & supplies for 41 Schools and 3 libraries, serving over 16,000 students. General mission expenses.
