Science Club for Girls fosters excitement, confidence, and literacy in STEM for girls and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities. They achieve this mission by providing free experiential programs and maximizing meaningful interactions with women in STEM. The SCFG programs have continued to grow since FY19, with an increasing rate during the pandemic and beyond. During the 2022-23 academic year, they held over 50 clubs with 500+ participants, including two two-week summer rocketry programs in 2022. Science Club for Girls is located in Cambridge, MA.

Program areas at Science Club for Girls

Scfg programs continued to grow in fy23 as they have since fy19 with an increasing rate during the pandemic and beyond. We held 2 two-week summer rocketry programs during the summer of 2022 and over 50 clubs with 500+ participants during the 2022-23 academic year that met both in the fall and spring semester with 33% held in-person and 67% held virtually over zoom. Our students are Girls and gender-expansive youth in grades k-12 from communities most underrepresented in Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (stem) by race and/or socioeconomic factors (>80%) and come from 156 schools in the greater boston area. Scfg has engaged over 120 mentors in fy23, with greater than 60% coming from the same underrepresented communities as the students. We held a february vacation week coding Club and an april vacation week robotics and artificial intelligence Club, both serving middle-school participants (20+ each, in grades 6-8). At the end of fy23, our online Science tv show, scfglive! Had broadcast its sixth season with over 75 episodes, garnering 370,000 views.
